About Us
Citizens Matter is a non-partisan watchdog for corruption and tyranny in local government. Citizens Matter was founded in response to the Neo-Marxist assault on the Robert E. Lee statue in Dallas for the purpose of destroying our Western Christian Civilization. We support our nation’s founding principles and the preservation of our American culture, traditions, history, and historical monuments.
Citizens Matter is dedicated to exposing the two wars that have been waged since the 1830s by the North against the South with the religious South as the chosen battleground.
One war is for economic control of the South while the other war is ideological to discredit the history, culture, and religion of the South. With Southerners and Southern Christianity discredited, Christianity nationwide would be targeted next. Secularism would replace Christianity as a religion and a totalitarian socialist government would be imposed.
Northern secularists continue to distort and smear the South’s history and the real causes of the Civil War. The main argument is that the Civil War was fought by the South to preserve slavery. The second argument is that the South seceded unlawfully and then Southern Democrats started the war by bombarding and capturing a U.S. Army garrison.
Radicals hide the fact that the war was fought over the high tariff on Southern imports that was economically strangling the South. The tariff revenue was used to industrialize the North and provide the major portion of the income to run the federal government. Very little of the revenue was spent for the South.
Forcing the seceded states to rejoin the Union was critical for the federal government to stay afloat. The North was losing the war badly so, after nearly two and a half years, Lincoln decided to use slavery as a political tactic and issued an executive order – the Emancipation Proclamation – which actually did NOT end slavery.
It was the proclamation that has provided Northern liberals with the lie that the North fought to free slaves.
Northern secular propagandists have made the word “slavery” synonymous with “guilt”, the “white south”, and “white supremacy”. Marxist Black Lives Matter have used these trigger words to brainwash the public into believing that Confederate monuments are memorials to “slave owning,” “treasonous” Confederate leaders and, therefore, must be destroyed.
Dallas Citizens Revolt!
Citizens Matter was organized by the grassroots to counter the encroachment of tyranny of the Dallas city government. Though there are numerous abuses and usurpations by this government, the tipping point is the destruction of Dallas/American history.
Using the Charlottesville, Virginia protest as an excuse for removing Confederate monuments in Dallas, Mayor Mike Rawlings formed a task force to advise officials on whether to remove the monuments with the Robert E. Lee statue, considered one of the most magnificent equestrian sculptures in the nation, being targeted. Calling the statues "dangerous totems" and "monuments of propaganda," Rawlings then sped up the process and changed the date for voting on task force findings to November 8.
On August 28, three of the four black council members submitted a resolution to the city, demanding immediate removal, disposal and/or relocation of all Confederate monuments located on Dallas public land. The resolution demanded renaming public parks and streets with ties to the Old South. Now the task force would give only suggestions on costs and where to store or relocate the monuments. Then Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway changed the November 8 vote to September 6.
Although the public was invited to submit testimonies at the September 6 meeting, the crane was already at the statue to begin removal. It was glaringly obvious that public input mattered none at all as Dallas council members passed the resolution 13-1 with one abstention. The statue was chiseled down on September 14.
It seems Dallas citizens are on the hook for somewhere between $450,000 and $4,000,000. Add to that the enormous cost of removing other Confederate statues and memorabilia from Fair Park and renaming schools, streets, parks, cemeteries, and all else Confederate and the cost soars into the millions.
Where is that money coming from?
Caraway says it’s coming from “excess revenue.” If there is excess revenue to fund the destruction of so much history, then why is the City Council putting the people on the hook for another bond issue? It seems a review of how the city is spending the public’s money is long overdue.
Since a recent NBC DFW poll showed 79 percent of respondents opposed removing Lee’s statue, why did City Hall ignore the wishes of citizens? As a result of the council’s despotic actions, not only are the people having their history destroyed against their wishes but are expected to pay for the destruction as well.
Why did the Council not include the statue of R. L. Thornton, a past Democrat Dallas mayor and a prominent Ku Klux Klan figure?
The council wants to rename Lee Park so why have they not included the renaming of Belo Garden Park, dedicated to Confederate Colonel Alfred H. Belo, who established the Dallas Morning News in 1885?
Destroying Confederate history is not the real issue.
The elephant in the room is not just the tinkering with our history or the mayor’s blocking of the people’s right to vote on the issue of historical memorials and works of art. Anger has been building over other abuses and usurpations by this out-of-control government and it has reached a boiling point. What we endured this week conjures up memories of the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, after which Japan's Admiral Yamamoto is said to have remarked: “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."
